Stone Facade Restoration
During renovation works on a private dwelling and retail outlet in a village in Co. Kilkenny, our customer approached us for some advice on sealing the newly revealed original stone facade.
They decided to remove the painted cementitious render which looked clean and pretty, but was preventing the old structure from breathing. Beneath the rendered finish lay a beautiful natural stone facade. Once the render was removed it was essential to seal the stone in a sympathetic way to protect against water ingress from rain.
We recommended Koster Façade Cream which is a high-grade façade impregnation for brick, natural stone and mineral renders. The creamy, stable consistency of this product makes it easy to apply using a brush or roller. Koster Façade Cream protects buildings from driving rain but it remains water vapour permeable. It is also resistant to frost and de-icing salts.
The customer was delighted with the ease of application of the Koster Facade Cream and with the end result. It was heartening for us to see an older building brought back to life by letting the original features shine.
